Obituary
Roosevelt Jackson, Jr. was born on November 4, 1956 in Hollandale, MS to the proud parents of Roosevelt, Sr. and Willie Ethel Jackson (who preceded him in death). He was the youngest of five siblings and was affectionately know as “Butch”. He was raised in Hollandale, MS and confessed Christ at an early age. Roosevelt took Gods hand when he heard him call and went to his heavenly home on April 8, 2014.

Roosevelt received his education at Simmons High School and graduated in 1975. He later continued his education in Superior Training Services and completed all studies prescribed for Advanced Heavy Equipment in 1985. Roosevelt last worked at Securitas for 12 years as “Supervisor”.

Roosevelt later moved to Long Beach, CA where he met the love of his life and married Naomi Taylor and became a father to three sons; Terence, Marquis and Japre Jackson. He rededicated his life to the Lord and attended The City of Refuge in Gardena, CA.

Roosevelt loved sports and history; but most of all being with his family and friends. Full of smiles and laughs, he loved to cook soul food; always had a peaceful spirit of God’s presence about him. He asked questions about the Bible all the time and wasn’t going to stop until he got the right answer. Roosevelt never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He mentored many young adult men, women and children in the “hood” and fed anyone that was hungry. He would go early in the morning to shop for whatever was needed for his menu. He supported his son from nursery school throughout High School going to every game and taking any child home that didn’t have a ride home from Jordan High School. He was an amazing great example of what it truly means to put family first. Roosevelt was a father to look up to and was a dedicated Loving Husband and friend. Roosevelt celebrated his 28th Wedding Anniversary on March 21, 2014 always honoring his wife with flowers and dinner for each one.

Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memories his wife Naomi Jackson; three sons Terence, Marquis and Japre of Long Beach, CA; two brothers Lurnell (Minerva Marie) Jackson of Long Beach, CA and Varnell Jackson of Long Beach, CA; two sisters Jean Jackson of Bronx, NY and Barbara (Ernest) McKnight of Covington, GA; three aunts Ruthie Gray of Cambria Heights, NY, Lurandean (Edgar) Hundley of Ontario, CA and Troy (Sam) Thornton; three grandchildren Paris, Mylaysia and Terrence, “T.J.” and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws other relatives and friends.
