Artiree was born to Rev. Solomon M/cGee and Blanchie Dourough on May 30, 1916 in Lindale, Tx. She was the oldest child of Solomon McGee. Mom accepted Christ at an early age and endured unto her passing. She was reared up by her grandfather and grandmother. Her father and mother preceeded her in death.
Artiree attended school in Mineola, Tx. She stopped attending school after the eighth grade. She united in marriage with Robert Anderson. To this union, 10 children were born. They moved to San Diego, CA in 1942. They united with Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Taylor. Mom served faithfully under the Late Rev. S.M. Lockridge. She left San Diego in 1965, and later moved to the Los Angeles area.
Where she united with New Hope Baptist Church under the late Rev. B.O. Byre. Mom moved to Compton, CA and joined Little Zion Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. Jerome Fisher. She worked faithfully in the ministry as a Sunday School teacher. She led a homeless ministry. Mom served at Little Zion until she started slowing down. Mom was still working in the rest home where she resided until her passing, busy witnessing, praying, and sharing Christ with others. Mom was a very loving person. She met no strangers, and her heart and home was a place for those who were hurting.
Mom was called to her heavenly home on March 6, 2006 at the Alamitos Belmont Rehabilitation Center in Long Beach, CA. She is preceded in death by her husband and three children: Dorothy Mae, Robert Jean, and Lula Baker.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Janet Douglass of San Diego, CA, Billy Anderson of Irvine, CA, James (Selestene) Anderson of Long Beach, CA, Charles (Julia) Anderson of Las Vegas, Laverne & Donald Crooms of Queen Creek, AZ, Bonnie Anderson of San Diego, CA, and Robert Anderson of Georgia. She leaves behind her sisters Dorthea Spearce of Texas, Eula V. Johnson, Earnestine Johnson, and Martha Caddell of Tyler, TX. Berdie Love of Dallas, TX, Carrie Johnson, and sister Theta Thornton. Brother Lawrence M/cGee preceded her in death. Lastly, she leaves behind twenty-one grandchildren, fifty-five great-grandchildren, and 16 great great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Special children include Margie McNeil of Georgia, Lula Allen, Andrew Irving, and Liz Smith and a host of friends and loved ones.
