Obituary

Barbara Jean Kirkwood was born on March 1, 1945 in Memphis, TN to Robert and Viola Kirkwood. Barbara, or "Bobbie" as we called her, grew up with two brothers and six sisters. At an early age, Bobbie moved to Long Beach, CA where she completed her education at Whittier Elementary, Franklin Jr. High and later graduated from Long beach Poly High School.

After high school Bobbie married Melvin Crockett, Jr. and to this union four children were born; Dwight, Deborah, Derrick Sr., and Melvin III. Later Bobbie worked at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard, where she retired 17 years later. Bobbie enjoyed watching her talk shows, court shows and scratching lottery tickets. Bobbie also loved to cook and was known for her lemon cake as well as her chicken and dressing. Bobbie also loved spending time with her grandchildren

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Viola Kirkwood; two sons Dwight and Melvin III; two sisters Donna and Janet and great-great grandchildren Ranessa and Bryson.

Bobbie leaves to cherish her memories two children Deborah and Derrick Sr.; grandchildren LeAndra, Richard Jr., Randy, Melvin III, Raniesha, Rosilyn, Blair, Regine and Derrick Jr.; 17 great grandchildren; four sisters Paula, Dell, Eugenia and Elaine; two brothers Robert and Harry and a host of nieces, nephews extended family and dear friends.
