Viewing will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 from 1:00pm till 6:00pm at Long Beach Colonial Mortuary.

Service will be Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 11:00am at New Hope Baptist Church 1160 New York Street, Long Beach, CA 90813.

Interment: 12:15pm Monday October 27,2014 Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd Riverside, CA 92518.

Obituary

Barbara Jean Underwood was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on September 18, 1955 to Ronia Johnson and the late Ellen Johnson. She was the oldest of 6 children. When she was 5 years old she moved to Long Beach, CA with her family.

Barbara Jean was a caring person who wanted to help all and to see everyone do good; to her you were family. If you knew her then you know she loved her friends and family and you couldn't keep her out of the city. She would always talk about back in the day. She could mess up any ones name. She loved to travel and visit family and friends.

Barbara Jean departed this life October 15, 2014. She is preceded in death by daughter Tywanna Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory Husband Oliver Underwood; daughter LaDrena Underwood; two sons Bryant Underwood and Vernon Eugene Underwood; Father Ronia Johnson; four brothers Ronia Johnson, Jr., Kenneth Johnson, Curtis Johnson and Clark Johnson; one sister Valencia Smith; eight grandchildren Bobby, Tarik, Johnnesha, Dyshauna, Dyvon, Jr., "DJ", Cheyenne, Alayla and Lei'Ana; three great grandchildren, Madison, Christopher and Makenzie Jean; best friend Alicia and a host of other relatives and friends.

Barbara will be missed but never forgotten.
