Betty Mae Robinson Loving mother and wonderful grandmother passed at the age of 72 in Long Beach California on May 13, 2013. Betty was known for her outstanding generosity and fun, youthful personality. She raised four children as a single mother and was twice married. Betty was born in Greene County, Alabama on April 11, 1941. Her family moved to Long Beach in the 1950s seeking a better quality of life. Betty was one of ten children born to her father (McKinley Robinson) and mother (Mary Robinson). She was a proud two-time cancer survivor whose strength and determination was admired by all. Betty Robinson spent over 20 years working at Woodruff Community Hospital and over 10 years at Bixby Knolls Towers as a caring nurse. Betty retired from nursing in 2011 to care for and spend time with family members. Caring for people was her passion and she was phenomenal at it. Her smile and joyful personality was infectious; her comedic wit and charm are what most people should remember her for. Aside from family and her career, church was an important part of her life. Betty has been a member of Christ Second Baptist church since the 1950s. Betty's commitment to the church was unwavering, having each of her family members baptized at Christ Second Baptist. Her faith in God was what she relied on when facing struggle and adversity. She was a true believer! Outside of church, one of her favorite hobbies was watching the Lakers. Betty Robinson loved watching basketball and spending time with her grandchildren. Betty leaves behind in mourning five sisters (Bertha Hill, Louis Robinson, Odell Leatherwood, Mary Knighton, and Gertrude Smith) and two brothers (Bennie Robinson and Joshua Robinson.)
She is survived by her four children (Freda Wynn, Cynthia Williams, Walter Williams JR and Gloria Pittman), eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
May she rest in peace and paradise.
