Charles Bernard Tyson was born on June 3, 1951 in Los Angeles, California to the proud parents of Charles and Helen Tyson. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age under the leadership of the late Elder Miles Hampton of Deliverance Church of God in Christ.
Bernard attended General Rosecrans Elementary School, Willowbrook Jr. High School, and Compton High School, where he played in the band. It was at Dominguez High School where he played on the football team during his junior and senior years. He later attended Compton college and American Career College.
Bernard was married at an early age to Lorei Wilson and to their union no children were born. He was employed by Rockview Diary, Point Hueneme Construction Battalion Center, St. Francis Hospital and Compton Unified School District.
Bernard's favorite sports were basketball, football, and fishing. He had a passion for music and developed a keen fascination for the saxophone (he was extremely gifted). Occasionally he would sit at the piano and serenade the family.
As a result of facing many challenges, life as he knew it changed.
