Cleo James "David" Belizaire died Monday, April 1, 2013 in Long Beach, California with family at his side.

Born in Lafayette, Louisiana on September 7, 1948, Cleo was the first of Albert Belizaire and Audrey Breaux Belizaire's nine children.

An ambitious and passionate person, he moved from Lafayette to Long Beach, CA with his family when he was a teenager. He lived in San Francisco, California for many years before ultimately planting roots in New York -- the city where he felt the most at home. Cleo, or David as he was known to the many people he befriended around the world, was deeply loved, truly admired and will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his mother - Audrey Belizaire; three sisters - Dionne Belizaire, Theresa Belizaire, and Carmella Belizaire; two brothers - Mitchell Belizaire and Russell Belizaire; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father - Albert Belizaire; brother Joseph Belizaire; sisters Laura Julia Belizaire and Mildred Belizaire.
