Clinton Harvey was born on April 12, 1934 in Shelby County Tennessee to the late James E. and Clemmie Smith. Clinton accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Morning Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Cordova, Tennessee under the leadership of Pastor J.H. Greer. He attended Morning Grove Elementary School and Mt. Pisgah High School.



Clinton had a great love for singing and was a member of the Southern Sons Spiritual Group. He also loved listening to the "Blues" and "Gospel".



Clinton had a burning desire to better himself and moved to Long Beach, California in 1953. He became employed at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard and also worked his own business in construction. Later he went to work for Exxon Oil USA presently known as Exxon Mobil for 23 1/2 years retiring in 1995.



While residing in Compton, California he met and married Carmela Washington and to this union two children were born; Terence and Tanya Harvey. He later married Jacquelyn Gathright and they both became members of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church presently know as Greater Zion Church Family of Compton, California. He was a faithful member until his illness prevented him from worshipping.



Clinton loved Memphis and especially Cadillacs. Therefore he was affectionately called "Cadillac Memph." His favorite sport was Horse Racing. He was a friend to everyone and would help anyone that he could.



On Friday, February 8, 2013 Clinton was called from Labor to Reward.



Clinton is preceded in death by his sisters Cleora Harvey Gibbs, Ophelia Harvey Hayes and Rosie Harvey Collins; brothers Roscoe Harvey, Sr., Lincoln Harvey, Sr. and James Joseph Harvey.



Clinton leaves to cherish his memories his wife Jacquelyn G. Harvey; son Terence Harvey; daughter Tanya Harvey Brown (Gregory); brother Freeman Harvey (Mary); sisters Francis Harvey Albright and Fannie Harvey Stallings (Thurlow); five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one step son; one step Daughter-In-Law; one step Son-In-Law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
