Obituary
Daniel Earl Gibson affectionately known as 'Skip" was born January 1, 1963 to Helen (Sugie) and Daniel (Danny) Gibson. Skip attended school in the Long Beach Unified School District, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1980. Upon graduation from high school Daniel attended Cypress City Collage where he earned his AA Degree. Skip loved his family more than anything and was a loyal and dedicated friend. Skipper had many 'adopted sons, daughters, nieces and nephews'. Once you met him, you were never a stranger.
Daniel gave many dedicated years of employment and service to the Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim. He was a mentor and inspiration to many. He made such a positive impact on the community and children there that they renamed their teen leadership program in his honor.
Daniel later worked for the County of Los Angeles at the Carmilitos Housing Community as a Resident Coordinator for 8 years. He showed strong leadership and community mobilizing skills. He developed and directed programs such as the 'Back to School Jam', 'Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway' and numerous other community events.
On October 6, 2014 the Lord called Skip home. He is preceded in death by his mother Helen Jo Gibson and sister Beverly Price-Tyler.
He leaves behind to cherish beautiful memories, his father Daniel Ellis Gibson and brother Duane Gibson both of Las Vegas, NV; sons Marques Alexander of Beaverton, OR; Jonathan Cook and Walter Cook, both of Long Beach, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
