Obituary

Delaney Flournoy Lewis was born on August 9, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama. The only daughter to Charles W. Flournoy and Mattie B. Flournoy. Her two older brothers Charles Flournoy and Edward Flournoy preceded her in death.

Delaney moved to California in 1961 with her family.

Delaney accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age. She attended St. Mark Baptist Church and served as a Faithful Usher and Young Matron Society Member. She loved the Lord. She loved to praise and worship him in song. She prayed and meditated daily, casting all her cares to the Lord.

Delaney worked for Verizon until her retirement in 2003.

Delaney loved to shop and finalized her shopping day at a nice restaurant.

Delaney was ill for a short period of time. Delaney never complained. She was at peace and stated "All things work together for good for those that love the Lord." She always responded to her providers with a smile, thank you and a comment to make them laugh.

In the midst of it all she showed her belief that God was is control. God took his angel to be with Him on Saturday, October 12, 2013.

Delaney leaves to cherish her memories her five daughters Santa Lewis, Matalie (Penni) Peterson, Karen Lewis, Leimoni Young, Lorna Young; one son Gerald Young; one son-in-law Timothy Butler; ten grandchildren Christopher Turntine, Kashauwn Lewis, Aaron Battle, Christopher Young, Alexus Young, Amani Johnson; Victoria Young (preceding her in death), Sheena Young, Victor Oliver and Marcus Young; two great grandson's Kalin Poullard and Cashton Medina; nieces Olivia Lombard, Brenda Coleman and Sheila Johnson; nephews Charles Austin, Dwayne Flournoy and Jean Pierre Flournoy and a host of other relatives and friends.
