Obituary

Denise R. Gurley was born in Detroit Michigan on May 12th 1955 and was raised by her grandfather Homer Rider and her grandmother Alice Rider.

Her grandparents instilled in her at an early age that all people are your family and should be treated as such. She helped everyone she came in touch with and left a strong impact on everyone.

She grew up in Michigan and left to California in the mid 70's. Though she has held many titles in her life, her number one title she has is that of an Angel to everyone around her.

She met Her husband, Thomas William Gurley SR. at friendship community church and the two conceived their first child Thomas William Gurley Jr. Who was born May 13th 1993 the day after her birthday which she forever considered a blessing. Four years passed and she had her second son Isaiah James Gurley in 1997.

She and Thomas Sr. graduated from Long Beach City College together in the spring of 1999 with their associate degrees and she went towards higher education and got her Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts in the spring of 2003 from Cal State Dominguez Hills.

She began her employment at Harbor View CSC in 2008 and had the best time of her life doing what she was put on Earth to do, helping people. She considered everyone there to be her second family and touched their lives while she was there.

She left behind a huge group of people she touched in her life including her two children Thomas and Isaiah and her husband Thomas Sr. Her best friend and God Mother to her children Leona Hunter and a large group of family and friends that she met along her wonderful journey of life. She was 58 years old.
