Obituary
Donnell Frazier, affectionately known as Don, was the third child born to the union of Samuel and Idabell Frazier on December 9, 1940 in Memphis, Tennessee. Donnell was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Vinita P. Williams and Barbara Ann McCoy and two brothers, Leon Frazier and Samuel Frazier, Jr.
Donnell's early childhood was spent in South Memphis and he enjoyed what life offered in the "black south." Don was very quiet and his sisters and brothers would say that he was a good child and very likable. He was never a problem to his parents and got along with everyone. He attended elementary and high school within Memphis City Schools.
After high school Donnell worked in several occupations; as a dishwasher at a restaurant and in the local supermarket. In 1969 Donnell relocated to Long Beach, California. He immediately found employment with the County of Los Angeles, working in several locations and departments until his retirement in 2004.
In the early 80's Donnell was added to the Body of The Church of Christ under the leadership of Brother Walter Boykins. There he served faithfully as the Chairperson of the Brothers, a song leader and occasionally as a Sunday School Teacher, until he had to step down due to illness.
Donnell met Martha Wright in 1987 and they married on March 26, 1994. She said that he was very easy going, kind hearted and a romantic husband. Donnell lived and loved his life. His favorite pastime was just driving around enjoying all of the sights and sounds of California life. He also loved traveling, horseback riding and picnicking in the park. Donnell was an avid sports fanatic. His favorite sport was basketball, which he also played. He also loved Gospel Music; especially Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC's, The Williams Brothers and his wife's Gospel Group, The Kilgore Ensemble.
Donnell leaves to cherish his memory his lovely wife Martha; three daughters Juanita Flewellen, Deborah Smith (Eric) and Darlene Aikens (Lenny) of Long Beach, CA; one son Theo Wright of Corona, CA; two sisters Linda Breakfield (Vernon) of Omaha, Nebraska and Barbara Frazier of Denver, Colorado. Donnell also leaves to cherish his memory 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, four aunts and a host of nieces nephews cousins and friends.
