Obituary

Edward Dwayne Blackshire was born September 14, 1961, to Carrie Bell and the late Mack Blackshire who preceded him in death.

Edward confessed a hope in Christ at an early age he joined Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend James Brock. On May 24, 1979 Edward graduated from Amanda Elzy High School. After high school he attended Mississippi Valley State University for two years and on October 29, 1984, he joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years.

On August 06, 1986, Edward was united in Holy Matrimony to Linda Jean Jackson and to their union one son Errick Dwayne Blackshire was born. They remained married and dedicated to one another for thirty years.

Edward affectionately known as "Wayne" was a very loving, caring and devoted husband, father and friend too many. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family reminiscing about his childhood experiences in Money, Mississippi and his annual family summer vacations in Chicago, Illinois. Edward was an avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed watching football. His all-time favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys, and he made sure everyone knew it! He will fondly be remembered for wearing a Dallas Cowboy hat and t-shirt. Edward expressed his love for his family and friends through his cooking. He really enjoyed preparing family holiday meals, and inviting his friends over for a barbeque.

Edward worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, now known as Boeing for thirteen years (July 1988 – January 2001) as an Aircraft Painter. He received several awards and certificates of recognition while employed with McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. After leaving McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, he worked for Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for fifteen years (November 11, 2002 – January 2017), where he received several awards for Employee of the Month.



He departed this life on January 10, 2017 at his home in Long Beach, California.

Edward leaves to cherish his memories his wife of thirty years Linda Blackshire, son Errick Dwayne Blackshire of Arlington Texas, his loving mother Carrie Bell Blackshire of Greenwood, MS, four siblings; Cleodis Blackshire of Greenville, MS, Mack Blackshire, Jr. (Samantha), of Lakewood, CA, Patricia Blackshire, of Greenwood, MS, Rene Blackshire of Long Beach, CA, a very special cousin Anthony Moore, of Long Beach, CA, and an adopted brother Eddie Sims of Greenwood, MS. He also leaves to cherish his memories four aunts; Magnolia Moore (Jessie), Catherine Howard, Ruby Smith (Walter) of Chicago, IL, Elizabeth Blackshire of Greenwood, MS, three uncles; J. D. Stanley (Rosie Lee) of Oak Park, MI, Floyd Stanley, Jr. (Mary) of Oak Park, IL, Lonnie Stanley of Chicago, IL, one niece, Taneshia Blackshire, four nephews; Bobby Hill, Jalen Blackshire, Jordon Blackshire, Cameron Blackshire, and a host of cousins and friends.
