Mr. George McClinton Brown II (Sonny), the son of the late George McClinton Brown Sr. and Adell W. Brown, was born April 28, 1940 in Camilla, Georgia. He moved to southern California at the ripe age of 16 with dreams of providing a better life for himself and his family.
His tough exterior could always be melted by the presence of his family. George enjoyed horse racing, reading, Westerns, and comedy by his doppelganger and favorite comedian, Richard Pryor.
He was united in marriage to Cecelia Brown, to this union three children were born. One son, Corey Michael Brown, preceded him in death. He later married Hazel Brown, and to this union, three children were born. One son, Mark McClinton Brown, preceded him in death.
On January 22, 2007, he married Linda Jones Brown. With her he would remain until he departed this life on May 16, 2013 in Los Angeles, California.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Marlon Brown (San Diego, California); three daughters, Kim Brown (Ontario, California) Lisa (DeRonn) Scott (Rancho Cucamonga, California), Miriam Brown (Anaheim, California); six siblings, Lula (Herbert) Gray (Tallahassee, Florida), Mollie May Jess (Albany Georgia), Rosetta (Calvin) Thomas (Albany, Georgia), Florie May Pruitt (Camilla, Georgia), Betty Jean McClain (Albany Georgia), Doris (Willie) Sheppard (Camilla, Georgia); four siblings preceded him in death, James Brown (March 1992), Pauline Smith (May 2006), Jeraline Smiley (July 2008), Lillian Riggins (February 2011); five grandchildren, Jonathan Brown, Deronn Scott II, Alisa Scott, Jeremy Brown and Nakia Brown; three sister-in-laws, Lorita Seaton, Cece Paris and Shirley King; and three step-daughters, Antoinette Jones, Armika Jones, and Aire Jones, as well as hosts of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
