Obituary
George Fullmore Coleman, Jr. was born to Lela Johnson and George Coleman, Sr. on January 10th, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas, the third child of seven produced by this union.
Raised in San Antonio, Texas, he graduated from Wheatley secondary school before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1945 and was honorably discharged in April 1947.
After his military service George married Lorraine Douglas, a union which produced three children, two sons and one daughter. Pop was married a second time to Betty Howard (Hadaway) and fathered two more sons, and a third marriage to Lorraine Richard in which he fathered twin boys. He was a married a fourth time to Norma Rivers.
Pop had two loves in his life, Jazz music and women. He worked as a construction worker and a long haul truck driver early on in his adult life, but was a chef by trade. George moved to California in 1967 and worked as a chef in several restaurants before supervising the kitchen staff at Fairview State Hospital and finally at Norco State Prison from which he retired after 16 years of service.
George was preceded in death by his son Brian, sister Dorothy and brothers Denvil, Clem, Hollis and Carl. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his brother Donald, daughter Denise, sons Lonnie, George III, Stacey, Terrel, Terrance and a host of grand children, great grand children, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
