Celebration of Life
George Harden was born on February 23, 1923, in Laurel, Mississippi. He was the second oldest of thirteen children, born to Mary and Bill Harden. He had six brothers and six sisters. At a very young age, he enlisted in the Army, where he later became a Sergeant in World War II. After honorable discharge from the Army at the age of 21, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to join his first wife Rosemary; and three daughters Sally, Jennifer, and Maxine.
He followed his dreams of becoming a successful entrepreneur, and opened his own market in Compton, CA. Later, he met his second wife Ora Lee. They were married in 1959. To this union, two children, Kim and George (Ro Ro) Rossano were born. In 1968, they moved their family to Pasadena, CA. After many years of having his own business, he went to work for Sealand in Long Beach as a Longshoreman, where he retired from after 35 years.
He faithfully supported Cherry Street Church (Harden Family Church), in Eerie, Pennsylvania and New Revelation Missionary Baptist Church, in Pasadena, CA.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife Ora Lee Harden, Children, Sally Preston (Wayne), Jennifer Lumpkin (Johnny), Kim Harden; Step sons, Lawrence Henderson, Andre Henderson (Gail). Grandchildren, Gordon, Jason, Danielle, Quincey, Sydney "Teddy", Kiana "Kiki"; Great Grandchildren, Cammie, Josh, Duguesclin Anthony Paul, Cipriano Jr. (CJ), Alyssa, Sydney IV, and John David.
His only son George Rossano, and daughter Maxine preceded him in death.
