Obituary

Horace Glover, Jr. was born to Eddie Mae Lane and Horace Glover Sr. in Anniston, Alabama. He was the second of five children and spent the remaining part of his childhood in his hometown.

At the age of sixteen Horace relocated to Buffalo, New York, where he would come to join the Army in 1952. He prided himself on being able to serve for his county. He would later on meet Mary Greco in 1960, which led to marriage in 1962. Together they had three wonderful children, Renee, Patricia and Gregory. After spending many years in Buffalo, Horace decided he would yet make another big move. He was the first in the family to move to California in August of 1966. The rest of the family would later follow behind and become permanent residence of the city of Long Beach. As a result of the move, Horace made it his mission to become a better father and devoted grandfather. His grandkids would grow to call him "PaPa" while his friends and close relatives called him "Sunny". He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them, while working as a security officer for many years.

He later then joined Christ 2nd Baptist church in 1993 and committed his life to God. His church home was a place he enjoyed the most, and often would invite other friends and family members to attend. Horace (Sunny) would spend the rest of his years continuing to serve his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, while maintaining a close relationship with his children and grandchildren.

Horace Glover, Jr. passed away on Saturday May 30th of 2015, he is predeceased by his 3 younger brothers and survived by his oldest sister Katie Calloway; two daughters Renee Martin and Patricia Glover; as well as son Gregory Glover; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grand children, and a host of many family, friends and church members.

Sunny (Papa ) will always be known for his sense of humor and leaves us many memories and laughs to cherish………..And now a limb has fallen from the family tree, on this day as we grieve, remember the best times, the laughter and songs, the good life he had while he was strong.
