Obituary

Jerry Willard Ford was born July 9, 1956 to Eva and Wilbur Ford. He departed his life and went home to glory on July 5, 2013. He was the youngest of 10 children. He was preceded in death by four siblings Sherman, Schofield, Maurice and Garland Ford.

Jerry was baptized at age 12 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo, North Carolina.

After graduating from West Columbus High School Jerry left North Carolina and relocated to Washington, DC where he stayed for a brief period of time before enlisting into the Marines. He served in the United States Marines from 1977-1983. His military experience ended in California where he made his home.

Jerry loved and adored his family. He loved to dance and laugh. Jerry held various jobs at the Long Beach Transit, Chevron Oil and Wal-Mart; until his health begin to decline.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memories his daughters Eva and Tiffany Ford; step-daughters Zodonna and Kimberly Sells; eighteen grandchildren; eight great-great children; two brothers James Douglas (Dina) of Crete, Greece and Dallas Ford (Ethel) of Fairmont, North Carolina; three sisters Sherrill (Richard Thomas/deceased) of Fort Washington, Maryland, Bertha (Royston Strachan) of Washington, DC and Cynthia (Leonard Nicholson) of Landover Hills, Maryland; one aunt Mable Harris of Philadelphia; a special niece Daphne Ford who provided him with exceptional love, care and support for many years and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a multitude of friends.
