Jimmy Leroy
Broussard
October 29, 1942 – September 25, 2023
Jimmy Leroy Broussard was born on October 29, 1942, in Orange,
Texas, he was the seventh of thirteen children born to Shelton and
Ophelia Broussard.
Jimmy received Christ at an early age at the Starlight Baptist Church.
Jimmy graduated from Emma H. Wallace High School in 1962, in
Orange, TX. where he was a standout football player.
After high school Jimmy was drafted into the Army in 1963, after five
years he was honorably discharged in 1968.
On May 1, 1965, Jimmy was united in marriage to Minnie Davis. To this
union three sons were born, Duane, Ryan, and Mark.
Jimmy and his family moved to Los Angeles, CA. in 1969.
Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, Jimmy started his career as a
Cement Finisher.
Jimmy worked as a Cement Finisher for 38 years until he retired in
2008.
Jimmy became a member of Central Baptist Church in 1976.
After retirement Jimmy was very active in the Abram Thomas United
Community Organization.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Minnie Broussard; parents
Shelton and Ophelia Broussard; brothers Shelton Broussard Jr and
James Broussard, sisters Katie Timms, Lillie Haynes (Warren), Shirley
Bradley, Artis Teate (Robert), and Deborah Minnard (Melvin).
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory, three sons, Duane (Jennifer),
Ryan, and Mark (Jimeka); his grandchildren Dylan Broussard and
Leighton Broussard; brothers Freddy Broussard(Ola}, Henry Broussard
(Necie); sisters Bettie Curtis and Claudette Anderson (Nolan Sr.); and a
host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
