Obituary

John Moore, Jr. was born on November 23, 1942 in Greenwood, Mississippi. He was the eldest of seven children born to John and Annie Moore.

In 1959 John moved from Mississippi to Long Beach, California where he attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School. He attended Long Beach City College and studied electronics. He also completed an internship at LA Trade Technical College where he received his certificate in welding.

John married his childhood sweetheart, Janet S. Moore, in March of 1968. To this union three boys were born. John was a faithful and devoted member of Cherry Avenue Church of God for over 35 years.

John had a very strong work ethic. He worked for Western Union and Northrop. He also owned a dry cleaning business in Long Beach. He had a very strong passion for cooking and worked as a head chef at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, UCLA and Shriners Children's Hospital over the course of 30 years until his passing.

John embraced his past and upbringing; and had a wonderful way of telling fun and interesting stories of that time.

John was preceded in death by his father, brother, mother and wife.

John is survived by three sons Johnsyvon Moore, Chris Moore (Deborah) and Derek Moore; five siblings Henry Moore (Patricia), Mary Davis. Willie Moore, Emma Edwards (Willie) and Winnie Howze; two brothers-in-law Larry and Jerry Joyce; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
