Her Life Story

Karen Elizabeth Dickson, 58, a long time resident of Long Beach, CA entered into eternal peace suddenly and unexpectedly on June 1, 2015.

Karen was the middle child born to the late Robert and Barbara Haviken. She graduated from Corona Del Mar High School in 1974. While attending San Diego State University she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Karen transferred to California State University, Long Beach where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in nutrition. She furthered her education by earning a Nursing Degree. Karen thrived working as a Registered Nurse until becoming a full time mother to her three beloved children.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Barbara Haviken and her brother John Haviken. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her children Shawna, Jeremy and Brandon Dickson; sister Lisa (David) Woods and three treasured grandchildren Brandon Walker, Elijah and Oliver Dickson.

Karen was truly a kind and gentle soul. She had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. As a young woman Karen was an avid tennis player. She loved to dance and loved to cook. Recently her family was extremely impressed when Karen embraced social media!! She loved reading and sharing time with her family and friends. Mostly Karen was a devoted mother, sister and daughter. Karen will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
