Memorial Services will be Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 12 noon at Long Beach Colonial Mortuary Chapel. 638 Atlantic Ave Long Beach, California.

Lillian Gillespie was born Ollian Sandles of Palmdale, California to Filus Sandles and Loma Lee Franklin in Mexia, Texas on May 2, 1928. Lillian, also known as Liz, had joined the church at an early age. Liz sang in the choir at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Fairfield, Texas. Liz had a real talent and interest in baking and cooking meals at an early age. Her delicious meals and tasty baked treats were legendary. Liz was always asked to cook and bake for others, especially the church.
Lillian met Lester Gillespie and married on July 5, 1951. They remained married for 49 years until his death on June 17, 2001.
Lillian Gillespie, 86, of Palmdale, California was called home on September 11, 2014.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents Filus Sandles and Loma Lee Franklin of Mexia, Texas and one brother Louis Sandles.
Lillian is survived by one brother A.J. Sandles of Sacramento, California; one sister Ruby Jones of Corona, California; and ahost of nephews, nieces and cousins
