Obituary
Lillian Frances Woodfin Williams was born in Huntington, West VA on August 6, 1924. She was the eldest child born to the union of Ida Sue Gallegher and Herman Thomas Lane, Sr. who both preceded her in death.
She departed this life and returned to our Lord God on November 9, 2014. She was 90 years old, and was a long time resident of Long Beach, CA. She was educated in Huntington, West VA.
She was the former spouse to Manfred (Woody) Overton Woodfin (deceased) of Louisiana, and Walter Duke Williams (deceased) of Ohio. Lillian lived in Huntington, West VA and Cleveland, Ohio in the earlier days of her life and in 1960, moved to Long Beach, California with her family. Lillian was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. Her family was always a priority in her life. She devoted herself to the Lord, and made time each and every day to pray for all who needed or requested her prayers.
Lillian was passionate about serving and helping others. She worked in the nursing profession for over 30 years which includes the Long Beach VA Hospital, Nursing Homes, and Home Health Care, where she was able to utilize her nursing skills and her untiring passion to serve. She loved the creativity of preparing any dish of food making it picture perfect and of course they were delicious. She loved to wear the Star of David as it reminded her of the kindness shown to her and her children from a Jewish family. Lillian was a very loving, kind and giving person. This was reflected in her collection of angels, teddy bears, butterflies and doves. She was a very private person, a person of dignity and respect. Her signature saying when you told her you loved her was, "I love you more." She wasn't perfect, but she knew when and how to ask for forgiveness, and learn from her mistakes. God was first in her life and the head of her household.
She was sister to Nettie Madison (OH), Herman Thomas Layne, Jr. (CA) and William Richard (Jack) Lane (OH), who preceded her in death, and life long friend and adopted sister, Marian Mauldin (OH). Lillian bore four children. Two children preceded her in death (Michael Overton Woodfin Sr., and Zondra Susan Woodfin) and two surviving sons, Frederick Perry Woodfin Sr. and Ray Anthony Woodfin.
Lillian leaves to cherish her memories two sons Frederick Perry Woodfin Sr., Ray Anthony Woodfin; Fourteen grandchildren Carmen Caffey (Wayne), Harold Doxy (deceased), Cordelia Harden (Jeffrey), Stephanie Washington, Jurdene (Judy) Jenkins (Floyd Sr.), Lillian Woodfin-Parker, Adomis Perry Woodfin (deceased), Frederick (JR) Woodfin Jr. (Michelle), Tara (Woodfin) Stone, Tyrone Anderson, Vivyon (Lynn) Anderson, Michaele (Mike) Woodfin, Paris Woodfin, Dawn Woodfin, Kyle Geer, Eric Geer, Tonya Steward, Shane Steward, Sherwood Steward, Hollywood Steward and Shenitra Steward; 26 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren, with one due any day now, 6 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews and a community of close church family and dear friends Johnny, Jessie, Ms. Alice, and Margaret Norris, Rita Woodfin and Sheila Woodfin who are like daughters to her.
