Obituary

Mary Ann Bournes  was born to Mary and Leroy Bournes in Detroit, Michigan. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ as the Risen Savior at an early age and was a life long Christian who enjoyed going on retreats with her church.

When Ann was 4 years old, the family left Detroit and moved to California.  Her formative years included elementary school at Burnett, middle school at Franklin Junior High, graduation from Poly High School and culminating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University at Long Beach.

Ann was very talented and had many interests and activities.  She was on the Fremonette Drill Team where she twirled a baton and participated in various community parades.  She loved to travel and took Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises; she also took trips to Canada, the Bahamas and Niagara Falls.  Ann displayed an amazing talent for sewing and was artful in creating outfits for which she received many accolades.

Ann has known most of her friends since childhood and developed lifelong relationships with them.  She also had a fruitful career and retired from Los Angeles County Probation as Group Supervisor.

If there were three words to sum up Ann's life, they would be GOD, FAMILY & FRIENDS. Ann was preceded in death by her father.

Ann is survived by her loving mother, Mary Helen; brothers LH Keita (Virgie), Faye (Joseph Hargrove) and Ronald Bournes (LaVerne); Goddaughter Cherrice; uncle LeVon (Wilma); aunts Catherine, Shirley, Rubbie and Barbara and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ann will be missed but never forgotten.
