Visitation: Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 11:00am - 4:00pm at the Long Beach Colonial Mortuary.
Service: Monday, November 17, 2014 at 11:00am at the Long Beach Colonial Mortuary Chapel; 638 Atlantic Avenue; Long beach, CA.
Interment: Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 11:31am at Riverside National Cemetery; 22495 Van Buren Blvd; Riverside, CA 92518.
Obituary
Mary Lee Bartee Russell was born August 14, 1926 in Quitman, Mississippi to the parents of Lewis and Josephine Russell who both preceded her in death. Mary was the middle child and is preceded in death by her sister Lou Vera Floyd.
Mary and her family relocated to California where she attended Poly High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a devoted member of Grant AME Church in Long Beach, California.
Later in life Mary married Joseph Rayfield and to this union one son was born Joseph Rayfield, Jr. Later Mary remarried Elbert Lee Gaines, Jr. and to this union daughter Diana was born and as well as gaining a step son Melvin.
Mary leaves to mourn and cherish her memories sister Norine; son Joseph; daughter Diana; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mary will be missed but never forgotten.
