Myrtle Pauline Gatling was born May 25, 1924 to Jonas Graddy and
Emma McNabb in Eufaula, Alabama. She was the oldest of 3 girls.
She and her family eventually migrated to New York. At an early age, Myrtle exhibited a passion for the church through the teachings of her parents. She committed herself to the Lord and was baptized when she was 12.
Not long after graduating high school, Myrtle met her life partner
William, whom she eventually married Sept 19th, 1953 in Yuma, Arizona. The two remained inseparable, and to her husband she became "Kitty." Although Myrtle had no biological children of her own, she routinely
exercised her mothering techniques with every young person she
encountered, enriching their lives, and instilling within them the lessons of life that is characteristic of any good mother. She was a teacher and blessing to everyone she touched. Through the early influences from her parents, Myrtle found the most solace through her commitment to the church, with which she remained
active throughout her life. Harbor Community Church became her final
destination in faith, and is where she remained an active member that
garnered a multitude of accolades and tokens of appreciation for her
dedication throughout her tenure.
Myrtle leaves behind her beloved husbandWilliam Gatling of 59 years,
sister Sandra, niece Janice, and a host of close friends, associates, and other loved ones too many to name for the amount of time she has graced her earthly presence.
