Obituary

Mrs. Ola Mae Brown was born July 12, 1926 in Gilmer, Texas to the union of George and Valrie Ingram. She was the second eldest of four children, her brother Robert, and her sisters Hattie and Georgia. Ola Mae also has two younger sisters Audrey Rabin and Gladys LaNell Diggs.

Ola grew up in Gilmer, Texas and expressed her Christian faith at an early age. She was baptized at Lake Providence Baptist Church. Growing up on a farm, Ola had a strong work ethic and family values. As a young woman, she worked hard cleaning houses to pay for her tuition to beauty school. However, she met and married Herman C. Brown on June 25, 1945. To this union four children were born, Charles, Barbara, Herman and Mary.

Ola and Herman left Texas moving to Illinois settling there from 1951 to early 1962 and finally put down roots in California in February of 1962.

As a mother, Ola worked hard to provide her family with stability, family values, encouraged higher education, and most importantly wanted her children to know Jesus Christ. Ola and her family were long time members of St. John Baptist Church. Ola served as a member of the usher board. Ola later became a member of Magnolia Baptist where she participated in the choir where she also provided food, a love of Christ and friendship. Ola passed on this reverence to her children and grandchildren.

Ola's faith never wavered even through tragedy. Ola was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, daughter Barbara, and her younger sister, Georgia Ree Ingram.

Ola enjoyed church and had a fierce love of family. Family was important no matter what. Ola also had a special fondness for the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant being her favorite. If the players only knew how much she yelled and cheered for them through that television set.

Ola leaves behind many who love her including children, Charles, Herman, and Mary, many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
