Obituary


Rene Joseph Jones, Jr. was born on May 20, 1932 in New Orelans, LA to the late Rene and Lenora Jones, Sr. He was the second of four children. He attended school there and later decided to join the United States Army at the age of 15 to serve our country. After his tour of duty, he came home where he met and married his late wife Doris Solomon. To this union, seven children were born. Later he moved his family to California.

Family and friends were most important to him. However, everyone at all levels of society loved and respected Rene. He was a man of his word and was usually right. You could always count on him to make the waiting lines in the grocery store shorter. He had an insatiable love for traveling and listening to Jazz. He worked as a professional spray painter at Aircraft-Hydroforming.

Later he met the second love of his life, Shirley. For the next 32 years they were inseparable.

On January 8, 2014 Rene departed this life to go home to be with the Lord.

He was preceded in death by mother Lenora, father Rene, Sr., brother George and daughter Dietra Jones.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memories: his wife Shirley; children: Sean, Monica, Rommel, Renette, Rene III, Debbie, Erika (Paul), Terri (Winfred), Michael, Keith (Nichole), Ena, Maurina (Alan) and Eric (Jessie); sister, Verdell Shelvin; brother, Authur Jones; a loving aunt, Katherine of New York; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
