Obituary
Gregory Johnson was born on September 19, 1956 in New Orleans, Louisiana to his parents, Kathleen Johnson and Leo Brazile. He attended elementary, junior high school, and high school in Orleans Parish and joined the United States Army on April 30, 1976. After one year of service, Gregory received an honorable discharge and made California his home. Gregory attended Trade Tech Los Angeles and began his career as an Aerospace Machinist at Hi-Shear Aerospace Corporation. He remained in the aerospace industry for 25 years and retired due to physical limitations.
Gregory accepted Christ and was baptized as a child at Greater St. John Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Upon moving to California, he became a member at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Long Beach, California where he served as a choir member, teacher and Minister. He was licensed to preach the Gospel on April 10, 1983 and became an ordained Minister on April 14, 1996.
Gregory Johnson married the love of his life, Millicent K. Givens on April 14, 1984. From this union they brought three beautiful children into the world, Brandon, Stephanie and Whitney. Gregory's children were his pride and joy and his love for them was undeniable.
Gregory's family will remember him as God fearing, loving, caring, family oriented, business minded and a lover of old school music.
Cherishing his memory, Gregory leaves behind his best friend and companion, Millicent K. Givens; four children, Brandon Johnson, JoVonna Johnson-Cooke (Eugene), Stephanie Johnson (Jerimiah) and Whitney Johnson; seven grandchildren; mother, Kathleen Mosby-Shields; step-brother, Audwin Mosby (Carolyn); step-sister, Joyce Jennings (James); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends.
Gregory was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Theresa Johnson; great-aunt and uncle Elmira and Andrew Wilson; brother, Ronald Michael Brown; and beloved dad, Dr. Ralph J. Mosby Jr.
