Obituary
Horace Lee Callum aka Robert Callum, Jr. was born on November 19, 1939 in Warren, Arkansas. Born to Robert aka "Hoochie" Callum and Lillie Butler; Robert was the oldest of Lillie Butler's five children. He attended school and church in Warren, Arkansas where he lived the majority of his childhood and loved staying with his grandmother, Ethel L. Davis. He grew up in that good old Southern lifestyle learning the value of hard work and where he learned and took a liking to cooking; and boy could he cook.
Robert's mother Lillie later married Earl Butler who also became the father to Robert. The family soon migrated to California with Robert enlisting into the Army at the age of seventeen. After his tour of duty he later met and married the love of his life, Kathleen Harris. To this union four children were born; Tony Callum, Bobby Callum, Vickie Callum and Felecia Callum Scott. The family lived the majority of their years in Long Beach, California also living in the cities of Wilmington, Compton and Lynwood, California.
Robert worked many years as an automobile dealer and painter at Earl Schieb, Carcoa and Maaco Paint Shop where he went on to become a Master Painter. He had a passion for life and a Love for family which is evident in the longevity of his marriage of fifty six years to his wife Kathleen.
Robert will truly be missed but never forgotten by those of us who knew and loved him. He could light up a room when he came around and always made you feel welcomed. Aside from his good looks, he was that person that everyone liked and loved. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend that one could have or ever asked for; he embraced everyone.
Robert is preceded in death by his father Robert "Hoochie" Callum, mother Lillie Mae Butler and second father Earl Butler, Sr.
Robert leaves a lifetime of precious memories to his wife Kathleen Callum; two sons Tony and Bobby Callum; two daughters Vickie Callum and Felecia Callum Scott; four grandchildren Monique Callum Jones, Jasmine Scott and Helana and Forrestt Callum; one grandson-in-law Michael Jones; two great-grandchildren Tyler and Justin Jones; two brothers Earl, Jr. and Waymond Butler; two sisters Olla Jones and Reta Butler all of Long Beach, CA; two sisters-in-law Doris Harris of Fontana, CA and Lois Davis of Wilmington, CA; two aunts Ida Davis of Long Beach, CA and Dorothy Alexander of Carson, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
